Rhumba at Studio9

Someone once told me, If you wanna learn salsa, go to the people who started it! I thought that was a little crass, given that he was an ageing South American who walked around with his nose turned up at the other gringos trying to master his native dance. His partner showed up, they both must have been over 65, but they moved better than any professional dance couple I've ever seen. The gentleman made a valid point - on the floor.

I learnt most of my dance moves from Paul, a greasy-haired, quasi Italian with Latin roots. The Rhumba that he taught was a little different to what everyone else was doing... the real deal, he called it, like we used to dance at home. I'll be teaching Rhumba for the first time in Hyderabad at Studio9 on Friday. If Tango is passionate, Rhumba is romantic - for some reason, the girls love it ;)
