Last night at Ahala

Tony from Goa was in town last night for a salsa workshop at Ahala. Apparently, his flight was delayed and instead of starting at 8pm, he arrived at the club at 10pm. The crowd slowly built up and everyone was itching to dance. Tony looked quite the image of an Indian (native American) warrior, with an unbuttoned green vest and black leather pants with frills. Alright, Salsa dancers are called to be flamboyant, but Tony - he was something else!

He started off with a warm up to Shakira and then demonstrated some Bomba steps. The floor was a little crowded and sweaty guys with no tact make life unbearable. I decided to quit while I was ahead, this workshop was not what I expected and the two-hour wait wasn't worth it.

But, I am glad that people are taking initiative to promote salsa at night clubs - I'm all for spreading the dance for the greater good. Found out about this event too late, so couldn't warn all of you. Glad I didn't, or you'd all be upset about the wait and lack of couples dancing too!

Note: This is not salsa ;)
